During September 17 to 20, 2026, Dr.Sopon Pornchokchai, President, Agency for Real Estate Affairs was invited to speak in Dhaka, Bangladesh.  He had an opportunity to visit his professor and his madam.  Prof.Nazrul Islam taught urban geography to Dr.Sopon during 1983 to 1984 at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).  Dr.Sopon has used Prof.Islam’s knowledge to his valuation and urban development work until today.  Prof.Islam also gave a valuable book on “Dhaka, from City to Megacity” recently published in 2026.  Dr.Sopon also gave his book to him too.

 

Prof.Islam was born in 1941 (85 years old in 2026). He is an Emeritus Professor of Geography and Environment at the University of Dhaka and the founder and chair of the Centre for Urban Studies (CUS), Dhaka.
